Rève du Faun

Player Biographies

Anita Kelling-Vocals, Flute, Piccolo

Anita started playing the flute at age 10 at the insistence of her mother (Anita wanted to play the Saxophone!).  But hey, how often is it that mothers are right?  So, finally at age 16, she started to like playing a lot.  But when she started listening to Jethro Tull, she was sold.  The flute was finally cool.  Thanks Mom!

Picture coming soon! Katrina Sheldon- Vocals, Clarinet

Jay Koelsch-Vocals, 6 & 12  String Guitar

Jay's years of musical endeavors include such diverse situations as playing sitar, sound tech for a rock band, the guitar styles of the '20's & "30's bluesmen, and psychedelic lead guitar.  Such wide experience has given him a firm grounding in the three R's (Ragtime and Rock & Roll).  Jay has been playing guitar longer than Anita and Katrina have been alive.

Ren Riga- Former Vocalist, Recorder

Ren's earliest recorded singing was at the proud age of "two and three quarters" at which time she recorded an extremely unique rendition of the ABC's.  Since then her singing has much improved, and she has dabbled with a number of different instruments, though has not yet picked one to focus on.  She has been in many musical theatre performances over the years (and even has a theatre degree).  Her day job is teaching high school math (she has a degree in that too...).  Ren is now going back to school full time and working full time.

Mary Vanorny- Guest Artist, fiddle, Vocals

Mary has been playing the fiddle since she was a tot.  She tends to dance while she plays but we don't hold that against her.  In fact we encourage that behavior Mary has opted for guest artist status until further notice when she and her husband Dan  welcomed Benjamin Vanorny into their lives.  We will miss having her around all the time and look forward to the times when she is sitting in.  Mary and Dan have recently added to their family with a daughter Claire.

Elizabeth Hall-Former Vocalist, Bodhrán

Elizabeth has been singing Irish songs since before she could walk.  Her careening career on the stage consists mostly of performing modern dance here in the Twin Cities as well as in Boston.  Singing in the shower wasn't enough, though, and two years ago she started performing in a band called Macalla.  Elizabeth joined Rève du Faun in June of 2003 and left the fall of 2004.  We miss her but look forward to the many opportunities her departure has left us with.

Theresa FitzPatrick- Former Lead Vocalist, Recorder

Theresa has been singing for about 16 years.  She spent much of 2001 in California conducting a couple of church choirs.  Most recently she conducted the pit orchestra for "Annie Get Your Gun".  Theresa has a BA in Music from Concordia College in St. Paul.  Theresa has just moved to Boston.  To find out what she's doing now go to www.windsofautumn.com
